Studies of Religion (SOR) Prelimenary Practice Test

The central ethical teaching in Christianity is found in the Ten Commandments. These commandments, which originate from the Hebrew Bible, serve as a fundamental moral framework for Christian ethics, influencing the behaviors and values of adherents. The Ten Commandments outline key principles concerning the relationship between individuals and God, as well as interpersonal relationships among people. They include directives on how to worship God and appropriate conduct towards others, encapsulating core moral concepts like respect, honesty, and integrity.

In contrast, the other options represent ethical and spiritual guidelines from different religious traditions. The Four Noble Truths are central to Buddhist teachings, addressing the nature of suffering and the path to enlightenment. The Five Pillars of Islam constitute the framework for a Muslim's faith and practices, including acts of worship and responsibility toward the community. The Eightfold Path is another fundamental concept in Buddhism that outlines a practical guide to ethical and mental development. Each of these options serves a significant role within their respective religions but does not align with the ethical teachings specific to Christianity.
